His books primarily focus on strategy, power, and seduction. He is a student of Zen Buddhism, and many of his ideas are supported by the principles of this school of thought. He is currently the author of six international bestsellers. Greene grew up in Los Angeles and attended the University of California, Berkeley. He went on to complete a B.A. degree in classical studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Before becoming an author, Greene worked around 80 jobs. These included construction worker, translator, magazine editor, and Hollywood movie writer. In 1995, while working as a writer at Fabrica (an art and media school in Italy), Greene met a book packager named Joost Elffers. Greene pitched a book about power to Elffers and wrote a treatise which eventually became The 48 Laws of Power. Robert Greene is also the author of The Laws of Human Nature and The 33 Strategies of Law.
