100% Ska Podcast S04E20 – Recent Bandcamp Releases, Spotlight on the Kyber Rifles, and More

Your weekly dose of a DJ trying to emulate your favorite old college radio ska show. Always 100% ska, almost always 100% vinyl, and always getting buzzed on Jamaican rum while recording! This week we’re taking a look at some of the recent Bandcamp releases – all available digitally and some with physical releases – as we get closer to Bandcamp’s second annual Juneteenth fundraiser on June 18th, where they will donate 100% of their share of sales to the NAACP Legal Defense Fund. Check out the links the playlist for the promoted bands! We also spotlight California’s Kyber Rifles (whose members would go on to form Let’s Go Bowling) and their anthology record released by Axe Records now available via Asian Man Records! If you are local in the New York City area, you can host DJ Ryan Midnight spinning all ska records Friday, June 11th, at Otto’s Shrunken Head! More details on the event page! Om Podcasten

DJ Ryan Midnight hosts the weekly all-vinyl podcast 100% Ska, playing a selection of cuts across the genre's spectrum and history. You'll hear an emphasis on current ska bands carrying the checkered banner including plenty of new releases, along with 2-Tone era and 3rd Wave classics and rarities, original Jamaican 60s and everything in between. Some episodes will feature interviews with bands, with the rare episode segueing into Ryan's non-ska guilty pleasures. When not hosting the podcast, Ryan Midnight can be found livestreaming ska sets, spinning locally in NYC, supporting live musicians, and producing the Subway to Skaville series.
