Sue Phillips, Varsity Head Coach Women's Basketball, #1 Ranked Archbishop Mitty High School, talks about "The Mindset of a Championship Culture". Producing 21 league championships, 20 CCS Championships, 12 Nor Cal Championships, and six state championships, along with several coach of the year awards. Coach Phillips, was recently awarded the prestigious Women’s Basketball Coaches Association’s National High School Coach of Year and the Naismith National High School Coach of Year. With 667 wins under her belt, her focus is about one game at a time and she pays respect to her staff, faculty and all the players that have committed themselves to the Monarch culture that have been a part of the overall success. Considering the winning culture she has created, she talks about how she coaches her players to managed the "hype", with regards to rankings and social media. She stresses to players to never ride the high's to high and the low's to low. For a program that has only lost 125 times in the past 26 years, she shares how she coaches her players to deal with losses.
