Pondenco Friends

A Dog's Life with Anna Webb - A podcast by Anna Webb, Mike Hanson - Sundays

On this week’s episode Journalist and media guru, Mickey McMonagle joins Anna to talk about the first dog inspired column in a National newspaper, which set a big trend! How his love of dogs from Spaniels, Chihuahuas is now also focused on helping Spanish Hounds, known as Pondencos. A chance encounter on holiday in Ibiza introduced Mickey to the Spanish Hound, one variety is the Ibizan Hound and it was love at first sight. Now Mickey is the proud pet parent of two Spanish Hounds, each a different variety, and he explains why he works to raise funds and awareness for these dogs that are known to have a terrible fate in their homeland. Bred for hunting these stunning dogs aren’t needed after the hunting season, and are not considered even worth a bullet. Mickey talks about a charity called Pondenco Friends who work tirelessly to rehabilitate these magnificent Spanish Hounds, and re-home them all over the world. Mickey talks us through how you can adopt one and/or donate to this independent charity based in Spain.
