Welcome to what may be my very best conversation yet. Or at least the most fun and insightful. Sit down with Jay Maisel, Greg Gorman and Seth Resnick, as we have a long and rambling discussion about film archives, digital archives, various sorting and editing methods, and how they all intersect. Or not. The interesting thing to me is that when I go back and edit these things, I frequently hear a very different conversation than the one I was actually part of. While editing this recording, I found Jay continually driving at a singular point about why he photographs, how he edits, and why he feels shooting to please yourself is the only important thing for a photographer. Please understand that this podcast has been minimally edited, and it contains some language that may offend. Parental warning advised. :-) "What you have to qualify here, is why are you trying to create a system. What is the purpose of that creation? Are you trying to sell stock pictures? Are you trying to find the best pictures? Are you trying to find particular pictures in a particular area? Why do you bother filing them? That's what you have to analyze." - Jay Maisel This podcast was recorded on Tuesday, October 16th, 2007 at Jay Maisel's studio in NYC.
