Chapter 47: Godzilla vs. Kong (2021) - I'm the Kong Now

Noot Noot and Shalom. Discussing a monster movie in a substantive manner is not a task to be treated lightly. It is a difficult task, indeed. What is there to make from Big Monkey fighting Big Lizard with Fire Breath? Well, as it turns out, there is a lot to talk about. For instance:

What does Big Monkey mean?

What does Big Lizard mean?

What does it mean that they're fighting?

Now, of course, you have to concede that there is a meaning at all to argue that any variation of meaning can arise (and you cannot simultaneously argue that the lack of meaning is meaning, for the absence of something cannot be a definition; at least, not as defined as a presence). So, for meaning to exist there must be agreed-upon interpretive factors set against agreed-upon objective facts, even if the latter is difficult to define or even observe. If there are these elements of existence, then you can extrapolate from the fact and the speculative into "meaning".

So what do these giants battling symbolize and what can that tell us about our present? How do we use that information for how to act in the future?
