Neil Potter is a Kentish Weald GP, Local Medical Committee  representative, local hero, and all round good guy. I have been lucky enough to have known Neil for years, and without descending into a quagmire of cliches, he is widely accepted as the family doctor you would want to go to if there was something remotely wrong with you. With regards the first part of the interview, Neil offers meandering contemplations on why eclectic travel broadens not only the mind, but also the soul, not  to mention delivering a sense of humility but also gratitude for our ‘jewel in the crown’ ( to quote Neil) National Health Service we are blessed with Neil talks openly about his gratitude to the British taxpayer for providing him with the opportunity to become a doctor as well as how to approach priceless debts to those who invested to allow him to be who he is, as well as becoming a quiz master and pool-hall hustler. We get some insights into the inner mechanisms of this approachable and fondly-thought of general practitioner, which tees us up perfectly for round two of the interview next time. Special thanks for permission to use the wonderful track Coming of Age by Neil's son's group Blondes, we are so very grateful. Please enjoy this thought provoking conversation with Dr Neil Potter
