Closing Soon: 'Projects: Ming Smith' at MoMA

[REBROADCAST FROM February 3, 2023] A new exhibition at MoMA, in partnership with The Studio Museum, is dedicated to the photography of Ming Smith. Smith arrived in New York City in the early 1970s fresh out of Howard University with degrees in microbiology and chemistry, but instead decided to pursue her passion for taking photos on the streets. What followed was an extensive career, including becoming the first black woman to have her work acquired by MoMA. Projects: Ming Smith, examines the unique methods in which Smith approaches her photography, and runs through May 29. Ming Smith, alongside Thelma Golden, director and chief curator of The Studio Museum, and Oluremi C.
