Kendra James, a founding editor at Shondaland.com, was an admissions officer specializing in diversity recruitment for independent prep schools before she entered her career in media. But James's own experiences at Taft School, where she was the first Black legacy student, were a far cry from the picture-perfect dream she was selling as an admissions officer.
