On Sunday, January 24, an astounding virtual, fundraising event occurred where entertainers from around the globe rose as one to give new wings to the iconic Birdland Jazz Club in New York City. Faced with the possibility of having to close permanently due to the pandemic, voices were raised, and money flowed in, helping to raise Birdland - like the mythical Phoenix - from the ashes to fly again. We catch up with club owner, Gianni Valenti, and booking agent, Jim Caruso, about how the event came to be, and what it means for the future.
