Paleoceanography: Understanding Past Oceans to Forecast Future Climates with Dr. Joyeeta Bhattacharya

American Shoreline Podcast Network - A podcast by The American Shoreline Podcast Network

On this show, hosts Peter Ravella and Tyler Buckingham talk to Dr. Joyeeta Bhattacharya about Paleoceanography, the study of the ancient oceans.  There is a new interest in Earth's ancient oceans, which underwent temperature and chemical changes similar to those now anticipated to occur as atmospheric CO2 increases. Dr. Bhattacharya currently studies marine sedimentary rocks to unravel past climates and carbon cycle processes, at the School of Geosciences, University of Oklahoma. Her work specializes in integrating sedimentary, isotopic, and paleontological proxies from sedimentary archives to reconstruct past greenhouse climates.
