#8: Knowing Enough

This week, Aimee and Lisa are anxious about knowing enough. They’re also wondering why they feel the constant need to seem smart and cultured and perfectly well-read. Is it just them? Everyone? Or mostly just women? They are joined by Ophira Eisenberg, comedian and host of NPR’s trivia game show ‘Ask Me Another,’ who offers context into our cultural obsession with knowing all sorts of random facts, reminds them that ‘trivia’ literally refers to small or unimportant matters, and confirms that there are in fact gendered elements to knowledge-based insecurities. Aimee and Lisa are anxious: about germs, about mortality, about the state of the world (and things far less serious, too). Each week they grapple with one of their anxieties, from the trivial to the existential, in a humorous and heartfelt way. They're helped along by smart and entertaining guests like Simon Doonan and Anne Roiphe, who offer advice—and some homework!—for our hosts to overcome their various anxieties.
