Summiting Mt Everest without oxygen & how failing helps you grow - David Göttler

Art of Adventuring: Inside the minds of inspiring explorers - A podcast by World Explorers Collective - Sundays

David Göttler is a German alpinist who is known for his impressive feats of mountaineering. One of his most notable achievements is summiting Mount Everest without the use of supplemental oxygen - something only very few climbers have ever achieved. The magnitude of this achievement can not be overstated, as the lack of oxygen at these high altitudes in the so-called 'Death Zone' can make it extremely difficult and incredibly dangerous for climbers to breathe and function properly. But to reach that summit David needed many trials and failed countless times - at some point he had to return just a hundred meters below the summit. Today he will share his incredible story, what it means and takes to climb Everest without oxygen, and why he thinks that many people don't take enough responsibility for their own actions, don't want to fail anymore, and follow goals and successes more than experiences along the way - and not just in the world of mountaineering.
