I Gave Up My Voice... and Ended Up With Cancer

"And it was like one of those moments where your heart just drops to your feet and you're left standing there with this information. All I could think was, 'Get it out of me... now. Get it out of my body today.'" In January of 2017, I had just filed for my divorce and went live on Facebook to sing a message of hope. My video caught the eye of a complete stranger, who also just happened to be a nurse. The lump she saw on my throat prompted her to send me a DM voicing her concern. It turned out to be cancer.
