046: How we train

Beyond Poker - A podcast by Nick Howard

This clip gives a behind-the-scenes look into what the training phase looks like for a micros or small-stakes player who's recruited to play for our private team. There are two things about the way that our private training format works that I think are fundamentally different. The first is that no matter how bad you run, it doesn't matter we give you a stake either way, as long as you're hitting your targets. We can use the database technology to go in and see if this player playing by our line metrics protocols. And as long as they're reasonably close, they get staked immediately for 200NL. Now, the benefit of that is it gets you out of the rake trap as fast as possible, and playing for meaningful stakes luck can't stop you in that way. The second thing that we do, which is sort of unique, is we pulled from different print principles, and different disciplines, and found a way to get our players fighting for more Pots as fast as possible by exaggerating the types of aggression. This clip will explain why we do it in that way. We want players to make as much money as possible on the come-up, and we want them to be as evolved and prepared as possible once they get to high stakes. Check it out!
