BitchStory - Stories of badass women that history "forgot" - A podcast by Kelly McClain and Smarty Pants Lisa

Categories:

July is disability pride month. Did you know that? Well we recorded this on the anniversary day that the ADA became law. We are just that organized! (ahem. that's all Lisa) If you don't know what the hell the ADA is, or what disability pride is, this episode is one you should really check out. The ADA is the Americans with Disabilities Act, which became law in 1990. It has been HUGE in making sure that all kinds of people have access to all parts of life. But before that, going way back...disabled folks were treated like total SHIT, even in the US (maybe especially in the US?!). And to get that law passed, a bunch of disabled folks CRAWLED up the freakin' Capitol steps! Crawled! Because they were not gonna take that crap anymore! Badass!!!!

Ok so I'm fired up. Anyway...Check out the blog at: https://kellymcclain.blogspot.com/2024/07/the-ada-disability-pride-month.html
