It follows Dan Evans (Christian Bale), a struggling rancher and Civil War veteran who volunteers to escort the captured outlaw Ben Wade (Russell Crowe) to the town of Contention, where Wade is to board the 3:10 train to Yuma for his trial. Along the way, they face numerous challenges, including Wade's gang, led by his loyal second-in-command, Charlie Prince (Ben Foster), who is determined to rescue him.
