Interview with Ava Della Pietra
Bringin' it Backwards - A podcast by Adam & Tera Lisicky
We had the pleasure of interviewing Ava Della Pietra over Zoom video!Ava Della Pietra is an 18-year-old pop artist and former Broadway actress who appeared in the original cast of School of Rock. She then made a name for herself with her innocent pop songs based on her own high school experience, leading to coverage from outlets like Just Jared Jr., Parade, and American Songwriter. Now, Ava is getting ready to enter a new chapter with her single and music video "Ego," which sheds her 'girl-next-door' image in what will be a major departure for fans who remember her as the little girl on the Broadway stage. While many of her earlier songs spoke to the experiences of young listeners, having just turned 18, the new single is inspired by her own tumultuous journey with a man more interested in playing games and fueling his self-importance than her own feelings.Ava's journey over the last decade has been pretty remarkable. Having initially taught herself five different instruments for her role in School of Rock, she went on to write more than 130 songs, leading American Songwriter to call her “a prolific, motivated, and multi-faceted creative" and to early TV bookings on shows like "Today in Nashville." She went on to win ten different national and international songwriting awards for her initial singles, all while juggling the demands of high school, where she finished as valedictorian this year. Now, Ava is getting ready to start an ambitious dual degree program at Harvard-Berklee in a few weeks, where she will pursue an advanced degree in music. We want to hear from you!
