The city’s 34 Cultural Institutions Groups — organizations including The Brooklyn Museum, BAM, the Brooklyn Botanic Garden and more — depend on funding from the department of cultural affairs. It is a department that is facing drastic cuts in Mayor Eric Adams’ proposed budget for the coming fiscal year, which, if approved, could be devastating to many of them.
