The Construction Industry Is Getting Hot, Hot, Hot | Walkthrough Wednesday

According to Construction Executive, 2021 was the sixth warmest year on record with the average global surface temperature 1.5°F warmer over the 20th-century baselines. Rising temperatures can have a massive impact on the construction industry due to a phenomenon called the “urban heat island effect”. Cities and urbanized areas become much warmer during the summer because materials used for roads, buildings, sidewalks, etc.. absorb a lot of heat. These materials then constantly release heat back into the air — thus increasing the air temperature.  That creates an extremely hot working environment for construction workers in metropolitan cities.
