The Golden Goose

Once upon a time there lived a boy who was called “Simpleton” by his family. Simpleton had two brothers. Both were tall and handsome. Simpleton was neither tall nor handsome, but he had a good heart.  One day whilst heading to chop wood in the forest, Simpleton shared his lunch with an old man who was tired and thirsty. The old man rewarded Simpleton for his kindness by giving him a golden goose. The goose caught the attention of many others in the town, but whenever they tried to steal it they became stuck fast. Soon Simpleton and his golden goose had a trail of people running behind them. This strange little train was enough to make a very serious princess laugh out loud. Her father, the king, had promised her hand in marriage to whoever could make his daughter laugh. So Simpleton married the princess and they lived happily ever after. A tale that encourages kindness over selfishness.
