Episode 30: Learning About Contagious Diseases
Canine High Jinks - A podcast by Elissa Looney & Whitney Taylor

In today's episode of Canine High Jinks, we talk with Dr. Lora Abbott, DVM, about communicable diseases AND how to prevent them. She even provided us with a great resource in the form of an online map showing regions of common diseases. You can find that here. We hope you enjoy this episode, even if it makes you cringe a bit - but knowing this information can help you keep your dogs healthy and safe - so they can have more fun! About our Guest: Lora is from Connecticut and grew up loving animals and riding horses competitively. She went to vet school in Knoxville, TN, during which time her competition focus shifted from horses to dogs, primarily agility with her Jack Russell Terriers. After vet school she moved back to Connecticut and began working as an ER veterinarian and currently splits her time between emergency and rehab medicine. She is owned by three Rat Terriers: 10 year old (semi-retired) Kraft, 5 year old Roots, and up and coming 9 month old Pick. She has competed at the national level in AKC, USDAA, and currently focuses primarily on UKI.
