Couple open sunflower patch for photo op fundraiser

It started as a way to block out a bit of ugly stuff and has blossomed into a community fundraiser. Last November a Temuka couple planted three hectares of their South Canterbury property in sunflower seeds, 10,000 to be exact and crossed their fingers they would bloom in perfect time to act as a backdrop for their wedding this month. The couple is opening their sunflower patch up to the public for a fundraising photo op, with proceeds from the entry fee going to the local kindy. Claire Goodwin spoke to Lisa Owen.
