New Atheism, a personal choice or a political mandate?

In an age of political turbulence, terror and extremism; fear and blame are terms regularly used to describe feeling within society. Religion has been blamed for a number of violent incidences in recent years, but how much can a collective group of people who worship a particular faith be blamed over the extreme views of an individual?
