With Spain’s snap election on the horizon, the left coalition government of centre-left PSOE and left-wing Podemos is at risk of defeat by the right-wing Popular Party (PP) and far-right Vox. The Spanish left is also taking on a new form for this election, with Sumar displacing Podemos as the dominant force. And for the Catalan independence movement, this election is also a litmus test of how strong its parties remain six years after the ‘wildcat’ referendum. Alice and Ben are joined by Pedro Rey-Araujo and Ekaitz Cancela to discuss the state of left-wing politics in Spain in the context of the election this Sunday (23 July). Read more from Pedro and Ekaitz: 'No Man’s Land' and 'Lessons Of the Podemos Experiment' at the New Left Review.
