DEALING JUSTICE: Ernie Ortiz

The state of Kansas just came out with their first cold case playing card deck this spring. They're still being distributed in prisons and jails throughout the state. Ernie Ortiz's case is featured in the first deck from Kansas.  The murder of Ernie Ortiz: On September 12, 2019 lifelong Garden City resident and restaurateur 69 year old Ernie Ortiz was shot and killed outside of his restaurant, El Conquistador as he was closing for the night, leaving his loving family and tight knit community in shock. Ernie came from a huge family and although he never married or had children of his own his nieces and nephews say he was like a father figure to them. They all vow to find justice for their uncle.  Robbery is believed to be the motive and Marcus Roady was arrested a few days after but had to be let go due to insufficient evidence.  Dealing Justice interviewed Ernie's family and the Garden City Police Department.  ** TIPS: Anyone with information on Ernie Ortiz murder is asked to call the Garden City Police Department at (620) 276-1300.
