He uses insects, plants and fruits to create dye for the textiles he creates in his studios in California and Oaxaca. He grew up in a family where the knowledge of medicinal plants and textile/dyeing crafts were part of his life, and Porfirio’s journey of re-discovering his passion of honoring the tradition, knowledge and ancestral heritage of his craft is an important part of his work.
