We hear about new cybersecurity breaches every day – but experts tell us that many of them could have been avoided by following basic cybersecurity hygiene practices. That’s the theme of a new public service announcement campaign from the US Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, or CISA – which has released a cartoon-styled PSA called ‘We Can Secure Our World’. The campaign channels 1980s-styled cartoons and songs – as well as a chirpy mascot called ‘Joan the Phone’ – to teach kids, and kids at heart, about the four most helpful types of cyber hygiene. These include watching out for and reporting phishing attempts; using strong passwords and a password manager to keep track of them; using multifactor authentication to add an additional layer of security on top of passwords; and making sure you regularly update your computers, phones, tablets, smart home devices, and any other connected device. By following these four basic practices, you can indeed secure your world. The 60-second "Security Nudge" is brought to you by CybSafe, developers of the Human Risk Management Platform.
