Every October, Cybersecurity Awareness Month provides an important reminder to everyone to review their cyber behavior. One of the most important things you can do is to make sure you keep up with software updates – those regular patches that plug newly discovered security holes that cyber criminals can and will use to attack your systems. Watch out for notifications in your web browser, antivirus and security software, and operating system that new versions are available, and accept the updates as soon as you can. You should also turn on automatic updates where possible, so that your operating systems and mobile applications are always up to date – keeping them secure and also giving you access to the latest features. If you’re using company equipment or devices, your IT team will probably handle many updates for you – but they aren’t likely to touch your home devices, including routers and security cameras that you should also update to avoid their being compromised. Remember: to stay secure, update early, update quickly, and update everything. The 60-second "Security Nudge" is brought to you by CybSafe, developers of the Human Risk Management Platform.
