AI generated deepfakes are appearing everywhere – and they’re becoming so good that by 2026, Gartner has predicted, 30% of enterprises will no longer be able to trust face biometrics for identity verification and authentication. The problem, VP analyst Akif Khan reports, is that today’s face biometrics solutions rely on presentation attack detection technology to confirm that a user is alive. With AI-generated deepfakes now so good that they can simulate liveness, companies must embrace more-sophisticated tools using image inspection and injection attack detection (IAD) techniques. CISOs and risk management leaders should establish a minimum baseline of controls and include additional authentication layers, such as device authentication and behavioral analytics, to detect attempted authentication hacks.
