What Untold History Can Teach Us About Life With Don Alexander

Cylinder Radio - A podcast by William Reusch - Fridays

In this episode of Cylinder Radio, I talk to Don Alexander, screenwriter and author of his new book The Shackles of a Freeman. The book is a thought-provoking historical fiction novel about Lewis Leary, a free black man who fought back against slavery in the 1850s.  During the episode, Don and I discuss the life of Lewis Leary, the history of Harpers Ferry and the anti-slavery movement. We talk about what we can learn from inspiring historical figures that we don’t often hear about and what it takes for people to choose to fight for social causes that they’re not personally affected by.  We also dive into the “idea” of America. We talk about how far we have come as a nation AND how far we still have to go. Plus we discuss the state of modern filmmaking and the future of modern storytelling.   FIND OUT MORE ABOUT DON ALEXANDER Shackles of a Freeman: https://shacklesofafreeman.com/  Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/don___alexander/   DOWNLOAD MY FREE TRAINING ‘DEBATE TO DIALOGUE’ www.cylinderradio.com/debatetodialogue   LISTEN TO CYLINDER RADIO  Website: https://cylinderradio.libsyn.com/  Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/cylinder-radio/id1448662116   YouTube: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLon6GBsGLBQs21-45o3Iixr7DvhnbHZ1T   SUPPORT MY WORK  Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/willreusch Instagram: https://instagram.com/willreusch My Website: https://willreusch.com
