Catechism of the Catholic Church Paragraphs: - 422 (in 'The Good News: God has Sent his Son") - God has visited his people. He has fulfilled the promise he made to Abraham and his descendants. He acted far beyond all expectation—he has sent his own “beloved Son" (abbreviated) - 717 (in 'John, precursor, prophet and baptist') - Mary’s visitation to Elizabeth thus became a visit from God to his people (abbreviated) - 523 (in 'The Preparations') - St. John the Baptist is the Lord’s immediate precursor or forerunner, sent to prepare his way. “Prophet of the Most High,” John surpasses all the prophets, of whom he is the last (abbreviated) - 706 (in 'The Spirit of the Promise') - Against all human hope, God promises descendants to Abraham, as the fruit of faith and of the power of the Holy Spirit.
