Dian originally started off as a stylist and hosting events to connect like-minded individuals together. I actually attended one of her events, it was women only and we had to all wear white - there was a panel that featured Chloe Williams who I interviewed on Episode 14 of this podcast. In this episode, Dian and I discuss the pivot she made into becoming a shoe designer, where her love of fashion stemmed from, and why we need to get rid of the idea that black people cannot create luxury brands. I’ve definitely felt this creating and pricing at a higher price point, which as a designer can birth imposter syndrome and stagnation due to fear of judgment, so I’m really happy we touched on this!
