Market report for the w/c Monday 19th June 2023. Unpredictable forecasts, but beautiful crops in Norfolk, nonetheless. In Northern Europe, especially Denmark is unfortunately experiencing drought problems. There is some very good news in the weather market for farmers. We are close to harvest; the market has improved. The biggest and most bullish story currently is US corn, they have had rain promised but 50% of the areas are in drought also. In the farmchat, this week we are back with an in-house Dewing Grain podcast. Webby has just returned from Holiday and is switched on, ready for his other holiday next week. Ben starts us off by covering the current news surrounding interest rates. Next week, the Bank of England, there is an interest rate rise coming. Comparing the rise in interest rates to the 80s and it's just not the same, the scope is much more concerning. Europe has just put their inflation rates up but theirs seems to be a lot more manageable than ours. With the interest going up, is this going to affect prices? Tune in to hear the debate. Is the UK economy in a bit of trouble? Putting up interest rates, is this going to curve inflation? We can’t believe what we are hearing, Webby is cycling into work? Greta Thunberg is sending Webby a Christmas card this year for making more environmentally friendly choices. Congratulations to Webby and his family who are soon to be moving into their forever home! Andrew will be attending this year as he is now on the committee as a council member for the Royal Norfolk Show for Agriculture, he will be waltzing around in his top hat this year. Andrew has had a brilliant idea this week, tune in to find out what it is. For those joining us on the next Dewing Grain Walk, we will be walking around the village of Mundesley, Gimingham & Trunch on Monday 26th June at 2pm.
