Down Home Cajun Music- Chuck Guillory : 1948-1987 RecordingsMurphy "Chuck" Guillory was one of Evangeline Parishes most popular Cajun string band fiddlers of the 1950s. He recorded early on in 1948 for Colonial and Modern before recording J.D. Miller's Feature label in 1950.  After the breakup of Harry Choates' Melody Boys, Guillory attracted two of his biggest sidemen in the industry,  Curzy "Porkchop" Roy and steel guitar player Julius "Papa Cairo" Lamperez.  His early group featured Preston Manuel as well.  He retired in 1958, stopped recording and went into the grocery business in Mamou for many years. In the 1980's he reformed the group and recorded for the Arhoolie label.
