Dream Shakerz Weekly Shakedown 7-24-21

In this episode, we'll be connecting with Jerelyn Rodriguez, the current CEO and co-founder of the Knowledge House, a social enterprise with roots in the Bronx that's focused on providing highly in-demand tech skills to young BIPOC adults throughout the country. During the show, Jerelyn discussed her upbringing in the Bronx and the life skills the borough provided, her path into education and technology, and why education should prioritize the provision of skills that lead to employment. As always, we also covered this week's set of opportunities for BIPOC students in the Level-Up!-Strategy and Planning Intern @ UberInternship Location: New York, NYLink: https://bit.ly/3rGJA1VFall Internship @ Fahrenheit 212 Program Locations: New York, NYLink: https://bit.ly/3i79jgNGlobal Integrated Marketing Intern @ HasbroInternship Location: Pawtucket, RILink: https://bit.ly/3x4SQhr-Dream Shakerz IGLink: https://www.instagram.com/dr3am_shakerz/

Om Podcasten

Welcome to the Dream Shakerz Podcast, our weekly show that covers technology, venture capital, and professional development from the vantage point of an ex-banker whose since switched to overseeing operations at a startup and a former management consultant whose in the midst of transitioning to graduate school to study human-computer interaction and design. As young black men, we realized that there was a void in regards to content creators who came from impoverished backgrounds but have also found success in professional spaces while staying true to who they are as people. We want to inform you, our audience, that your beginnings should not rule out certain career paths and that professional success doesn't necessarily mean you have to cut off all cultural ties. Given our success in plotting a course from public housing units in the Bronx to programs at Harvard, we believe we can effectively speak to this need.
