To download the transcript CLICK HERE This is part one of my chat with wine writer and now part time winemaker Chris Boiling. You can find his work in Decanter or other online wine magazines. And more recently, a wine newsletter called Canopy, which you can find on the International Wine Challenge website. We will be talking about the wines of Slovenia because Chris has bought a home with a small vineyard there and it has inspired all kinds of wine projects. On the famous wine site jancisrobinson.com, you may have seen him chronicling his winemaking disasters in a column called Diary of a Dream. For this reason we will be touching on some winemaking techniques and some mistakes Chris has made on the way. We will look at some interesting grape varieties like Laški Rizling, Refošk, and Rebula. You'll learn about some indigenous varieties of Slovenia alongside the three main wine regions of this country, and I'll be trying Chris's very unique and interesting Pinot Gris.
