EP169: Nick Banks

Electronically Yours with Martyn Ware - A podcast by Martyn Ware - Fridays

Categories:

This fascinating episode of Electronically Yours features one of the original members of Sheffield’s own legendary post-punk rockers, Pulp. Nick started playing drums aged 14 and was inspired by Paul Cook from the Sex Pistols and Blondie's Clem Burke. In his early years he saw many of Pulp's performances in Sheffield. He eventually joined the group in 1986 because "they were his favourite band". He is about to tour all over world once more with the band, and locally performs regularly with Sheffield band The Everly Pregnant Brothers. Also, as the unofficial “memory keeper’ of Pulp, he has just released a very entertaining autobiography documenting his rollercoaster history with Pulp entitled ‘So That’s Where It Started’. Ladies and Gentlemen – welcome to a man of the common people with uncommon talents – Nick Banks...
