Cynthia Farahat, is an Egyptian-American author, columnist, counter-terrorism expert, and fellow at the Middle East Forum. In 2003 she co-founded the Liberal Egyptian Party which was promoting human rights, peace with Israel, capitalism, and secularism. She co-authored Desecration of a Heavenly Religion in 2008. Her brother was tortured and October 9, 2011 there was an assassination attempt on her life.
