My career has been as a creative, production and business executive in the motion picture industry, with side excursions into academia. I am now developing a slate of projects for theatrical release. I divide my time between Southern California, New York City and Europe. I am currently active as a screenwriter and producer. I am also a novelist, an artist and a composer. My tetralogy of novels will be published during the fourth quarter of 2023. Advance praise for my latest book: “Easily the most erotic novel ever written.... A sexy thriller which shows New York city in the grip of terrorists, natural disasters and voodoo magic, while at the same time being a moving meditation on love, sensuality and twenty-first century man's fate in the universe. Possibly the greatest novel of our time.” Former CEO, Lumière Films, Inc., Hollywood (producers and financiers of such films as LEAVING LAS VEGAS [Academy Award Winner], FRESH [Sundance Film Festival Winner], TOUCH [nominated for the Spirit Award as best indie film of the year), CYCLO [winner of the Golden Lion, Venice Film Festival], CITY OF LOST CHILDREN [La Cité des enfants perdus], and many others). Member, American Philosophical Association (professional association of university professors of philosophy). Associate Member, Los Angeles County Bar Association (and its sections on Intellectual Property/Entertainment law & Real Property law). Former Distinguished Visiting Professor, Chapman University (taught advanced graduate courses on Motion Picture Production & Entertainment Law). Summa Cum Laude degrees in Sociology (social psychology, intellectual history) and Near Eastern Studies (ancient), University of California, Berkeley. Phi Beta Kappa (Alpha of California Chapter) Former Regents Graduate Fellow, University of California, Berkeley (Egyptology). Completed Graduate Program in Motion Picture Production, UCLA. Also studied at the Graduate Theological Union, Berkeley (advanced Coptic studies and seminars on Gnostic religion and literature); and at California State University, Los Angeles (law). As a composer I have written pieces in all genres, including works for vocal orchestra and soloists ("A Cabaret for Cesare Pavese,” dedicated to the memory of Constance Dowling; "Der Schatten eines Traumes," dedicated to HA, "Das Buch der Blauen Rose,” dedicated to CS, and concerti, including his highly regarded “Concerto for String Orchestra“ and his “Concerto per pianoforte e orchestra dedicato ad Anita DeFrancesco” both of which may be heard on my Lendall Pitts II YouTube channel, where you may also find video versions of the Explore Ecstatic Sensuality podcasts.
