Religious Scrupulosity

FearCast Podcast - A podcast by Kevin Foss, MFT - Mondays

In this episode I discuss Religious Scrupulosity, which is a sub-type of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder concerning religious or moral issues. As always, I tried to shoehorn more information in it that I really need. Hopefully the episode didn’t go too far off the rails. I can’t believe it took me this long to get to talking about Scrupulosity, but here we are. I discuss what Religious Scrupulosity is, how it differs from general religious doubt, and how to treat it with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). Lastly, I go over a tool found in Dr. Ian Osborn’s book, Can Christianity Cure My Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. As mentioned in the episode, here is the link to Dr. Ted Witzig’s Principles of Effective And Religiously-Sensitive Exposures Finally, here are some other books or resources I either mentioned in the episode or think might be helpful: Understanding Scrupulosity, by Thomas SantaThe Doubting Disease, by Joseph W.
