#1 Essie Dennis: Feminism 101

The Chapters - A podcast by Books That Matter

In our very first episode, I chatted to the inimitable Essie Dennis. From a double page spread in Cosmopolitan, to walking in the London Queer Fashion Show, to being featured in Pink News and Allure, Essie uses her voice and her platform to be a real advocate for so many intersections of the feminist cause. Essie is an LGBTQ+ activist, writer, artist, model, and eating disorder awareness activist. You can find her at @ khal_essie on Instagram, where she shares a wealth of empowering, body positive content, feminist and activist posts, as well as discussions on chronic illness and eating disorders and her Greek heritage. For our first episode, we chose the title of "Feminism 101", as we really wanted for this to be a free-flowing conversation on how we can all understand the different nuances inside of the word "feminism". What that meant just 10 years ago is so different to what it means today, and starting to understand all the different intersections and what they mean is a great springboard to getting involved in feminism.
