It's Time to Let Go of What Could Have Been

Fiercely Human - A podcast by Beth Clayton

Today, I’m exploring a topic that often comes up in my coaching programs. As they start to put down the baggage that has held them back and start to accelerate the momentum in their life, there comes a point when they start to ponder what could have been (had they made more empowered choices in their past). They may even start to fear that they will never fulfill their ultimate potential because they spent so much time seemingly idle; there’s no way to catch up. There are actually really important reasons we need to grieve and let go of “what could have been” so we can create powerfully in the present. I know I have had to grieve what I call “my ghost ship.” So, today, we are going to talk about: ● The common self-sabotaging “coulda woulda shoulda” that come up as someone actually starts to feel new levels of empowerment in their lives. ● Why “regret” is actually a POWERFUL teacher in our lives if we explore it intentionally and from a place of self-compassion. ● How our past can be a tool used to destroy or a tool used to build our futures. ● The questions to ask yourself when you are pondering “what could have been” to intentionally build your future.
