Grab the Grocery Budget Challenge Checklist Hey there, amazing ladies! It's Shana & Vanessa, and we're back with Day 4 of our Grocery Budget Challenge podcast series. 🛒💰 Today, we're diving deep into the magic of labels, those little bitty, tiny, small things that hold the key to saving money on your groceries. So buckle up, ladies, and let's empower you to make better choices for both your budget and your wellbeing. 1. Cost Per Ounce (or Unit) 💲 - This is our favorite! It's like a secret weapon. Look at the cost per ounce or unit. It's the same for all brands and sizes, making it easy to find the best deal. No one's going to mess with us when we're reading labels! 2. Compare Prices Across Products 🧐 - Don't just stick to your usual brands; compare prices. You might find a hidden gem that's both budget-friendly and high-quality. Think dish soap, boxed items, or even chicken cuts. 3. Generic or Store Brands 🛒 - Yep, they're often produced in the same place as name brands. So why pay more for fancy packaging? Turn those labels around and see if it's the exact same product. 4. Ingredients Matter 🧪 - Dive into the ingredients list. Check for hidden sugars and additives. If you can't read it or don't recognize the word, consider another option. 5. Nutritional Value 🍎 - Check the label for nutritional information. Are you getting the best bang for your buck? It's not just about saving money; it's about making informed, healthier choices for your family. 6. Non-Negotiables 🚫 - We all have those items we won't budge on (like Vanessa's pickles). It's okay to splurge on your favorites. But for other items, consider store brands. 7. Eye-Level Trick 👁️ - Brands pay for that prime shelf space at eye level. Store brands are often just as good and cheaper. So do a little squat or reach to grab them! 8. Create a New Shopping List 📝 - Based on what you've learned today, update your shopping list with budget-friendly staple items. Mustard, butter, ketchup, almond milk - they all count! 9. Keep Checking Labels 👀 - Don't stop here. Every time you shop, check the cost per unit or ounce. It's part of your new shopping routine. So there you have it, Day 4 of our Grocery Budget Challenge. Grab that checklist, ladies, and start making those labels work for you. 🛒💪 Come back tomorrow for Day 5, where we'll keep empowering you to save money and make smarter choices for your family.
