Cucina Povera is the moniker of Maria Rossi. Maria is from originally from Finnish Karelia, the European region that borders Finland and Russia, and is now based in Glasgow. Her sublime and haunting experimentations in voice and field recordings have been captured on labels including Offen, Editions Mego, Night School, Primordial Void, Mappa and BAKK. We have been captured by her works, and are so honoured to have her take over the first hour. From Maria: The mix was inspired by friends and musical loves of mine who make great work. Hence I decided to include lesser known or unpublished works, by friends from Scotland, Ireland, Frankfurt, London, Finland, Quebec, Argentina, Spain, Afghanistan... Finishing the mix is a recent collaboration of mine with a dear one.
