Welcome to "Fit to Heal," the YouTube show dedicated to promoting holistic health and wellness. In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, our focus for this episode is Mental Health & the Black Community. Specifically, we'll be discussing the topic of Recognizing & Breaking Barriers. As we know, mental health has been stigmatized in the Black community for far too long. One of the biggest barriers to seeking help has been financial stressors. That's why we'll be discussing an economic blueprint for removing these stressors. Our bullet points for today's discussion include: Enslavement, Money & Racism, and Money & Segregation. These are all issues that have had a lasting impact on the economic stability of the Black community. Enslavement created a foundation of systemic inequality that continues to this day. Many Black Americans were not able to accumulate wealth through inheritance or property ownership because of this legacy. Money & Racism has also played a significant role in creating financial stressors for Black Americans. From discriminatory hiring practices to wage disparities, the deck has been stacked against Black Americans for generations. Finally, Money & Segregation has also been a major factor in the economic inequality faced by the Black community. Redlining and discriminatory lending practices have made it difficult for many Black Americans to obtain loans or buy homes in certain neighborhoods. So, what can we do to break these barriers and provide access to resources for those who need it? Join us for a thought-provoking discussion on how we can make real change happen.
