On a summer night in June of 2017, a fire broke out in the 24-story Grenfell Tower apartment building in West London. 72 people died, and more than 70 others were injured. It was the deadliest structural fire in the United Kingdom in nearly 30 years. Inquiries found that poor purchasing skills contributed to the disaster. CIPS Group Director, Duncan Brock led a working group that recommended changes in both practices and culture to prevent future tragedies like the one at Grenfell Tower.
