54. PITCHED: Event Sponsors with Shannon Siriano Greenwood
Pitched: Real Stories of Pitching Bold Ideas - A podcast by Angie Trueblood
Categories:
Welcome to the first episode in a new series we’ll be running over the coming months: PITCHED. In these episodes, I’ll be interviewing guests who have pitched themselves and their businesses for different types of opportunities so we can see the overlap in pitches of all types that work. My guest in this episode is Shannon Siriano Greenwood, the founder and CEO of the Rebelle brand, which supports working women in creating meaningful connections that will support them both professionally and personally. Although Shannon hosts her own podcast and has been a member of the GPY program, the pitching she talks about here isn’t about podcasts. Rather, it's about how she approaches businesses and organizations in regards to gaining event sponsors for the Rebelle conference. I hope that you'll see that the basics of a pitch don’t change, even when the ask does. And as we’ve mentioned many times here, the pitch and the 'get' aren’t the end of the story - the important part is creating a relationship that can be nurtured and grown over time. Topics covered include: What Shannon Siriano Greenwood does and how Rebelle and Rebelle Con have evolved The importance of sponsorship to Rebelle Con, how Shannon goes about identifying potential event sponsors, and - most importantly - how she gets them Why Shannon still gets 'sales anxiety' when pitching, and how having a plan helps to beat it Why sponsorship is not a 'one and done' deal but the start of a mutually beneficial relationship that starts with the pitch - so, how do you maintain it? How Shannon curates an incredible group of women for each Rebelle Con What to expect from the next Rebelle Con and where to get tickets from I hope you're beginning to see that the pitching skills you're learning with regards to podcast appearances can be applied to a range of visibility opportunities.
