Graham Chapel Wesleyan Church - A podcast by Graham Chapel

Welcome Graham fam! We are so glad you could watch Sunday morning online with us. Sermon: Praying for a Renewal of the Heart and Mind Introduction: * Week 7 of our prayer series, aligning with the upcoming season of Lent. * Encouragement to consider fasting and praying during the 40 days leading up to Easter. * Focus on the need for our hearts and minds to be renewed. Scripture: * Ephesians 4:21-24: Throw off your old sinful nature and let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes. * Psalm 51:10: Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a loyal spirit within me. Points: * You were created to be like God, but you’re not like God: * Recognize the evil within us and our need for God’s righteousness. * 2 Corinthians 5:21 (NIV): We become the righteousness of God through Jesus. * Titus 2:11-12: Transformation through God’s grace. * We have to throw off the old: * Choose to shed our sinful nature and embrace a new life in Christ. * Colossians 3:9-10: Put on your new nature and be renewed. * Colossians 3:1-5a: Set your sights on the realities of heaven. * Let the Holy Spirit do its job: * Allow the Holy Spirit to transform us and produce good fruits. * 1 Corinthians 6:19-20: Our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit. * 2 Corinthians 5:17: A new life begins with Christ. * John 14:26: The Holy Spirit teaches and reminds us of God’s truths. * Acts 1:8: The Holy Spirit empowers us to be witnesses for Christ. Closing: Renewal is essential for becoming more like Christ. We must forsake the world and throw off the evil within us. The Holy Spirit will then give us power, authority, boldness, spiritual gifts, and righteousness.
