She's a former Federal member of parliament and an Officer of the Order of Australian - recognised for her distinguished career in politics and her long and tireless advocacy for women's issues and the diabetes community. For five years she was the President and Chair of Diabetes Australia and she currently sits on the board of Oxfam and Access Care Network Australia among many other things .
